Here at Moon Ridge Farm we keep both Traditonal and Hybrid Chickens . They are all kept  in small groups free ranging on the meadow grass amongst the newly planted orchard protected by electric fencing and have access to traditional chicken housing . They have access to spring water and are feed fed from a local feed company with no GM product or antbiotics . They also have plenty of grass and natural habitat to forage amongst

TRADITONAL BREEDS:

Our Traditonal breeds are hatched and reared on the farm . The breeding groups are selected by Merv ensuring the best standards of each breed that we keep . The eggs are collected daily and we incubate and hatch every two weeks . We sell hatching eggs, day /week old , poults and POL .  We can provide all hens if required or pairs /trios or just cockerals .

HYBRID /UTILITY LAYING CHICKENS:

Our Hybrid layers come from specialist hatcheries from both the UK and France . They are fully vacinated and we sell them just at Point of Lay (P.O.L.). The hybrid layers can lay from 240 to 300 eggs per year depending on breed and have been selected for ranging ability , feather quality as well as egg quality . The hybrids we keep are especially suited to free range systems and are proven to be of good temperment and therefore preform well as a mixed breed group as well as looking very attractive .As the hybrids are hardy , mix well and look good we find they are great for first time chicken owners and being fully vaccinated this eliminates any disease worries.  We have a selection of the birds below all year round

The following breeds all look very different and lay eggs from pale cream to a dark brown egg .
